Ten days, nine sessions in Dakhla
Flat lagoon, steady 20 knots every afternoon and a camp right on the water. We stopped checking the forecast on day two.
Read the full report →We stayed at a camp on the lagoon, so the walk to the water was about twenty steps. Mornings were calm, perfect for coffee and stretching. Around 13:00 the wind filled in, side-onshore and steady, and it held until sunset almost every day.
The lagoon is huge and shallow at low tide, ideal for freestyle and for anyone learning. At high tide the speed spot near the dune gets glassy and fast. Day six was the only miss: too much wind for our 9 m kites, so we drove out to the white dune instead.
- Wind: 18–25 kn most afternoons
- Gear: 9 m and 7 m, shorty, booties for the shells
- Tip: book a camp on the lagoon, the town is 40 minutes away
